STATEMENT CONCERNING ACCIDENT AT TRONOX KZN SANDS CPC
Tronox regrets to report that, following an accident that occurred on Sunday, 5 May 2013, at its KZN Sands central processing complex in Empangeni, KwaZulu Natal, South Africa, an employee Mr Nhlonipho Radebe died as a result of his injuries early this morning and another employee, Mr Hugo Swanepoel remains in intensive care at a Richards Bay hospital.
The incident occurred during a routine transfer of molten iron to a transfer car.
Our colleague, Mr Nhlonipho Mthandeni Radebe (34), a Process Controller worked at KZN Sands for more than 8 years.
As a tightly knit team, we mourn the loss of our colleague and wish to express our heart felt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
The cause of the accident is under investigation. All measures have been taken to secure the area and to ensure the safety of our employees.
