Vice President, Operations – Asia Pacific and South Africa

Mr. Mothoa was appointed to his current role in July 2024, after serving as Managing Director-South Africa for the last seven years, and adding Saudi Arabia to his leadership responsibilities in 2022. He joined Tronox in July 2017 to lead the regional integration of Tronox’s South African entities of Tronox Minerals Sands (PTY) Ltd and KZN Sands (PTY) Ltd. Prior to joining Tronox, Mr. Mothoa worked for nearly 20 years at the Rio Tinto Group, culminating in his position as Managing Director of Richards Bay Minerals.

Mr. Mothoa brings more than 27 years of leadership experience within the mining industry, covering operations, maintenance infrastructure, major projects, sustainability and stakeholder engagements. Mr. Mothoa holds a National Diploma in Chemical Engineering (cum laude) from Tshwane University of Technology and an MBA from Management College of Southern Africa.
