Bunbury Port
In 2004, Tronox moved a large proportion of its bulk export and import activities to the Bunbury Port as part of a long-term strategy to improve the logistics of its operations.
Each year Tronox moves approximately 160,000 metric tons of mineral sands products,, including rutile, zircon, leucoxene, and synthetic rutile, from its Chandala Processing Plant to the Bunbury Port, before it is exported in bulk to destinations worldwide.
On the return journey from Bunbury, trucks pass through Collie, where they backhaul coal for Tronox’s operations. By backhauling coal, total transport time is reduced and efficiency of the logistics operation is improved.
